The Oak Hill Union Local School District is close to acquiring the Crabtree property, which is located next door to the Oak Hill Middle/High School on State Route 93.
During the board of education meeting held Wednesday evening, Jan. 4, Superintendent Mike McCoy told board members the deal to purchase the property has been completed and the terms have been agreed to in principle.
"We are just waiting on a few signatures from the Crabtree family members because they are living in different communities," said McCoy. "As soon as those signatures are completed, the deal will be done."
McCoy stated during a previous meeting that the district plans to build special education buildings on the property and also will look at putting in a new road to Davis Stadium and maybe build an addition to the Davis Stadium parking lot.
McCoy explained the district is running tight space-wise for special education students and parking spaces and this project should help on both counts. McCoy will update the board again when the deal has been officially completed.
In other business from the meeting, the board also had many issues to consider. The board approved the following requests: Renea Butts attending the 2017 State Softball Clinic; Jason Wright attending the 2017 Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Clinic on Friday, Jan. 20 in Columbus; Nathan Dugan and Jeffrey Allen attending the 2017 Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Clinic on Thursday evening, Feb. 2 through Saturday, Feb. 4, in Columbus; and the senior-class parents' use of the high school for the Prom After-Party on Saturday, May 6 from midnight to 3 a.m.
The Oak Hill Board of Education will meet again on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the middle/high school library.
