Jackson Lioness Club welcomes four new members; Candy Shoppe opened Nov. 13

Members of the Jackson Lioness Club met at the Holzer Assisted Living facility for their November meeting. Attending were Nancy Baisden, Mary Elizabeth Billman, Barbara Brackman, Linda Costilow, Martha Clark, Alice Dill, Loretta Jones, Janet Kearns, Mary Montgomery, Marcy Newvahner, Eleanor Peterson, Robin Reed, Jan Rhea, Linda Shewalter, Rhea Shupe, Krystal Wilson, Pat Young, Sharon Fenik, Eva Aldridge, Jan Gettles, and Jennifer Hughes. Guests in attendance were Hester Cosby and Nancy Clark.

Following a delicious meal, President Shupe called the meeting to order. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were presented and approved. A monetary donation will be made to the Jackson County Gear Grinders for the "Gearing Up for Christmas" project (formerly known as Secret Santa). Beginning with the December 2017 meeting, the club will be meeting on the second Tuesday of each month. Four new members were installed by President Shupe.

The Lioness Candy Store was set to open on Monday, Nov. 13 and is located at 235 Broadway Street in Jackson. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A wide variety of candy will be available. To list a few: old-fashioned hard candy, mixed varieties of peanut clusters, coconut bonbons, chocolate cordial cherries, almond bark, toffees, caramels, mints, truffles, creams, jellies, buckeyes, bridge mix, cashews, and mixed nuts. There is also a nice selection of sugar-free candy.

"The ladies at the store will be glad to help you with treats for your group, church, or school," a spokesman noted. "A selection of tins will also be available at a minimal cost for you to fill as a gift for that special someone."

The next meeting of the Jackson Lioness Club will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Holzer Assisted Living facility.
