Band Camp is over for the Jackson High School Marching Band, bringing about the annual Meet the Band Night for parents and admirers last Friday, July 28 at Alumni Stadium. This year's marching band will consist of 170 members, once again making it one of the largest in this part of the state.
Under the direction of Aaron Rex, the Marching Ironmen performed their renditions of School's Out, Soul Finger, MmmBop, Word Up, Crazy Train, and Brick House. In addition to catching a preview of the local talents, attendees were introduced to student and organization leaders, assistant band directors, and awards from the week of Band Camp were handed out.
To support the trip to Disney World in the spring, the Jackson High School Marching Band will have the following performances/fundraisers: The Apple Festival Band Show, which is held on Saturday afternoon of Apple Festival week (Sept. 23) and the Jackson Band Boosters will have a booth at the festival. Also, a Spring Bingo Night is planned as well as the annual Spring Fling in April. Also, during football season on Thursdays and Saturdays, the band members will be bussing tables at Cardo's Pizza in Jackson for tips. These tips will help finance the trip to Disney.
As always, the Jackson Band Boosters will be selling concessions during home football games.
Director of Bands Rex was excited to announce that there will be a total of 12 bands in this year's Apple Festival Band Show.
The Band Boosters also are thrilled with the new banner project for senior marching band members.
These banners can be purchased and will hang at Alumni Stadium for all to see.
