Wellston High School Alumni Banquet Tickets on Sale
Wellston High School Alumni President John Pelletier has announced that tickets for this year's Wellston High School Alumni Banquet are now available. The 127th Annual Wellston Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 27 at Wellston Middle School. Cost of each ticket will be $20, which includes a fully catered Social Hour that will begin at 5 p.m.; and the Alumni Banquet will start at 6 p.m. The tickets are available at Brodigan's Sports and Trophies on South Ohio Avenue in Wellston.
WOUB'S "Our Town: Jackson" Showing at JMS March 26
Local history will come alive at WOUB's "Our Town: Jackson," showing at JMS Sunday, March 26. Produced by WOUB Public Media, the documentary series visits towns large and small to uncover their histories, highlight their unique contributions to the region and explore their futures. Emmy award-winning series producer, and Southeastern Ohio native, Evan Shaw, began research last year on the project. In addition to historical events, the documentary will also highlight what makes Jackson special today, including segments focused on the Apple Festival, the Jackson Eisteddfod, etc. In the early parts of the documentary, Shaw stated the story of Jackson County as a whole will be told. As the story shifts to modernity, however, the City of Jackson will become the focal point. The film will premiere on WOUB television on March 27 at 8 p.m. A free public screening will be held on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m. at Jackson Middle School. For more information, visit www.woub.org.
WFD's Danny Holtz Memorial Pancake Breakfast May 27
The Wellston Fire Department's Danny Holtz Memorial Pancake Breakfast is set for Saturday, May 27 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Wellston Fire Station 2, 110 West Second St. (formerly MedFlight). The cost is $5, for all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and a drink. For pre-sale tickets or more information, call 740-384-2128. Delivery will also be available within the Wellston city limits.
Markay to Host Art Show for Veterans Oct. 27 - Nov. 12
The Southern Hills Arts Council is inviting Jackson County veterans to submit their art for exhibition in the Markay Cultural Arts Center's Gallery from Oct. 27 to Nov. 12. Presbyterian Church "First Friday Feasts" March 31, April 7
A "First Friday Feast" at the Presbyterian Church of Jackson, located at 225 Church St. (across from Apple Tower), will be held on Friday, March 31 and again on Friday, April 7, with serving from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The First Friday Feasts are held regularly each month. Benefit for Cancer Patient Donna Davis-Fultz March 31
A benefit for Donna Davis-Fultz will be held Friday, March 31 from 4 to 10 p.m. at Madison-Jefferson Bingo Hall in Oak Hill. "Please come out and join us to help Donna with her fight against cancer, with a rally of love and kindness," a spokesman said. "All proceeds will help with Donna's medical expenses and travel costs." The event will include a gun raffle, Chinese auction, split-the-pot, noodle dinner and kid-friendly activities. "My Favorite Cat" for Preschoolers at Jackson Library March 29
Jackson City Library will have a Preschool Book and Playtime on Wednesday, March 29 at 11 a.m. for children ages 3-5. My Favorite Cat will be the theme for the day with stories, fingerplays, songs and a craft about cats or kittens you might like. Humane Society of Jackson Spring Yard Sale April 1
The Humane Society of Jackson Spring Yard Sale is set for Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church on Huron Street. Donations can be dropped off Friday, March 31 at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. Corrinne Cardwell Photography will be there Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., taking pictures of children with the Easter Bunny. Package prices are available on the Humane Society's Facebook page.
"Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" at Heartland April 8

Sunrise Service at Hamilton Christian Church April 16

Jackson Library to Host Toddler Storytime in April
Toddler Storytime will once again be happening on Thursdays in April. This program is for youngsters ages 18 months to 36 months. The staff features a short book reading, songs, movement fingerplays and lots of action. If you would like to register your child for the Toddler Storytime events, please call the Jackson City Library at 740-286-4111. This approximately 30-minute program must have a child accompanied by a parent or caregiver who will participate with the child. Parents will receive a copy of the songs and fingerplays to practice with their child at home. The first storytime will be Thursday, April 6 at 11 a.m.
