On Jan. 16, Jackson County Board of Developmental Disabilities will be holding the 9th Annual Amy Duggan Memorial Basketball Game and Auction at Northview Elementary School. Amy was a member of the Special Olympics Basketball Team who lost her battle with cancer in 2008. Members of the basketball team have helped organize this fundraiser to honor Amy, as well as her love for sports.
The Memorial Basketball Game will be a contest between the infamous Jackson County Trotters against the Playground Legends, local community members.
The tip-off for the game will be at 6:30 p.m. with the doors opening at 6 p.m. The price is $5 for adults with students admitted free. The event will support Special Olympics, Hope Haven School and J-VAC Industries, in addition to several student-based projects.
"We would like to see everyone come out and support the Trotters at the Amy Duggan Memorial Basketball Game and Auction," a spokesman invites.
Playground Legends team members include: Phil Howard, Pete Wilson, Joe Wyant, Tammy Wyant, Jason Brown, David Gillum, Joe Hemsley, Dr. Brian Morris, Jeremiah Shaver, Brad Munn, Brandon McGhee, Jason Gillum and Shadra Jenkins.
