Ryann LeighAnne Ramey
The top academically ranked students for the Vinton County High School Class of 2018 have been announced as Ryann LeighAnne Ramey, Valedictorian, and Madyson Newsome, Salutatorian. The Class of 2018 will graduate Friday, May 18 in a program starting at 7 p.m. at the Vinton County High School Gymnasium.

Ryann LeighAnne Ramey, Valedictorian
Ryann LeighAnne Ramey is the daughter of Arlen and Heather Ramey. She is the oldest of three daughters; her younger sisters being Elena and Paige Ramey. Ryann has been involved in numerous clubs and organizations, including Student Council, the National Society of High School Scholars, French Club, of which she is co-president, National Honor Society, of which she is president, and Junior and Senior Class Officers; she is the senior class president. She has run both Cross Country and Track & Field since her 7th-grade year, and was part of the first girls' team in Vinton County history to qualify for the Cross Country Regional Championship.
Ryann has been named March's Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month, WSAZ's Best of the Class, and Vinton County's Distinguished Young Woman of 2018. She has received the Wendy's High School Heisman Award, the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award, All-A Honor Roll recognition, the Student Scholar Athlete Award, and three Congressional Nominations to attend multiple military service academies. After graduation, Ryann will report to the United States Air Force Academy for Basic Cadet Training. Once the academic year begins she will study Biology, in hopes of one day being a Forensic Anthropologist.
Madyson Newsome, Salutatorian
Madyson Newsome is the daughter of Kristina and Travis Newsome. She is the oldest of her siblings, Ryan Newsome, Delaney Clary and Hunter Clary. She is the National Honors Society Treasurer, French Club Vice President, and Senior Class Media Specialist, as well as involved in FCCLA, Science Olympiad and Tennis. She was chosen to attend Regional Scholars and Buckeye Girls State her junior year. Madyson was named the Vinton County Chamber of Commerce's Student of the Month in October and has received an Award of Academic Excellence for all four years of high school. After receiving the full tuition Land Grant Scholarship, she has decided to attend the Ohio State University this fall.
