The students at South Elementary School in Hamden are busy both in the classroom and getting ready for a very special activity. On Wednesday, Sept. 6, students in Steve Burns' music class were learning and practicing special songs for the upcoming Grandparents Day activities.
The event is always a popular one at the school and this year's event will be held Sept. 29. During this special day, grandparents visit the school and the students entertain them, show off projects and they eat lunch together.
The students were also busy in Ryan Perry's physical education classes, as they were playing dodge ball and a variety of other games. The class is a good chance for students to get in some physical activities and learn how to compete with others.
These activities are just the tip of the iceberg as there are many more activities planned at the school, including Veterans Day and Christmas activities, which are just around the corner. For now, Principal Miranda Smith and her staff are ready to make Grandparents Day special and make the participants feel a part of South Elementary.
