10/9/2018 2:27:00 PM Third Annual Midnight at Moonville event set for Saturday, Oct. 13
Vinton County's Third Annual Midnight at Moonville event will take place in the haunted Moonville Tunnel near Lake Hope State Park on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Organized by the Vinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau in partnership with the Moonville Rail Trail Association, Midnight at Moonville is a Halloween-themed event featuring regional craft vendors, local cuisine, historical presentations, dramatic storytelling, wagon rides to Moonville Cemetery, and a demonstration of paranormal investigation techniques.
Local musicians Todd Martin, Lincoln Mash, Ben Davis Jr., Steve Zarate and more will perform. There will be many Moonville Tunnel souvenirs for sale including T-shirts, jewelry, mugs and more. The Moonville Rail Trail Association will be selling merchandise and collecting donations for their upcoming bridge projects.
Schedule of Activities
3 p.m. - Storytelling, historical presentations, and ghost hunting presentations begin; and music performance (artist TBD).
9 p.m. - Paranormal investigation begins; music performance (artist TBD).
The first two years have attracted thousands of visitors from Ohio and surrounding states. Up to 50 vendors will be set up near the parking area and outside the tunnel selling local crafts, food, paranormal merchandise, souvenirs, and much more. There will be a $5 parking charge per vehicle, but most activities and entertainment are free. The event organizers are currently seeking volunteers to help staff the event. Volunteers receive perks such as free T-shirts, parking passes and more.
